GPS

I've been using On Star but since retiring, I find $30.00 a month cuts into the budget. Anyone have a suggestions for a good reliable and easy to use GPS.

We have an older Garman, That works perfect. Just keep the sotware updated and you will have no problem. Jim

If you have a smart phone with a data plan, I've heard Google Maps is the way to go. Will route you around traffic jams. A few guys at work swear by it.

The GPS on the wife's LG phone makes Garmin look very very bad.

A smart phone is great as long as you have a signal,I am more than happy with my garmin get one with free map updates

I like my Garmin also. The smart phone works but like jeepcj7 said, "IF YOU HAVE A SIGNAL" The garmin works off of satellites just like onstar. Phones work off of towers

Garmin is not the solution. I live on a private lane. It is clearly marked on the state installed road sign. People drive up the lane, expecting to connect to another road that loops around above our house. Every time I ask the people why they are using my lane (passing two "Private Lane" signs) they all say' "I have a Garmin and it says this is the best way." (Actually, that is a paraphrase rather than a true quote.) I have called Garmin three times in the past 18 months, but they take no action. Theses lost drivers include delivery trucks who update their systems regularly. The classic response from Garmin is: "We are not responbsible for the accuracy of the information we provide." Think twice about Garmin.
Edited to add: No one who comes up the lane has said they use any other service than Garmin.

Just an addition to the above. When pressed, Garmin points out (quite correctly) that the User Agreement you MUST agree with to use their service states that Garmin will do its best to provide accurate information, but they are in no way liable for any inaccurate informatioin they provide to you, and you have no recourse when relying on the bad information they provide. So basically they promise you a service, but when they don't deliver on that promise, it's your problem, not theirs.

I "ALMOST" found the Skunkworks using a 5 yr. old Garmin. Garmin knows where all the dirt roads are ........ guaranteed.
