Sore and Tired; Expensive Friday

Very long day yesterday; in the process of lightening ship were going to take some stuff to my oldest daughter and a friend of mine, do a little visiting in the process and then come home. Before leaving I was in the basement to get a few things when I noted an ominous noise coming from the furnace; you know the screech sound an S can makes when "packing it in"? Well amplify that and make it more "low register". Fortunately I have a friend that is an HVAC guy so I called him and held the phone up the furnace....bearings going out on the induction motor :doh: Hid a key for him and left on our trip: from our place North of Ft Wayne to Dayton; Dayton to 10 miles East of Columbus then back home. Short visit with my daughter and long one with my high school friend. Altogether the round trip was just over 400 miles, left the house at 10AM and got back in the front door at about 12:30AM. Now I love my wife's 2008 Mariner for quick trips, etc but this vehicle was never designed for long trips with a person my size in mind! The seats are too firm and the lower seat cushion is too short; the last hour felt like I was on a concrete block. I will take my cushy 06 Grand Marquis for long trips every time! Back hurts, legs are stiff and I have to work 8 hours tonight! Oh, the furnace? $459.00 repair bill :mad: I need to tinker with my slot cars to relax :D

At least it was only the bearings on the motor in your furnace. I had to replace the furnace in 2009 two days before Xmas, $3200, then we had the ice storm in early January and didn't have power for 9 days. Not much worse than being uncomfortable when you are driving. I don't want fall asleep comfortable, but something that's comfortable enough I'm not in pain when I get out. I've had cars like that. The key word is "had". :)

I here you about the car. When I get out of the car we have now I don't feel like I just took a beating, it will be hard to replace!

Sounds like a busy and expensive day. Glad the furnace is back up though...that is not funny when it isn't.

Get back to slot cars!

I am a FIRM believer in having my daily driver be "comfortable" to drive!
I find that on long trips I arrive much less fatigued. :)

Sorry to hear about the furnace - been there done that. :(

BUT - if your weather is anything like it is here in SE Ohio today - it is a great day for slot cars! :D

But the Mariner is better than the seats in those airliners. I am still trying to figure out how rocks can float for those seat cushions can't possibly be used as a floatation device unless you want to float to the bottom. Oh well I'll take two slot cars and go out and run them on the track.
