Fun day of racing - Karl builds his first bomber

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Sat Mar 07, 2015 5:58 pm

So Karl and Locoracer Tom showed up today and we started helping him build his first car. He was READY :)

The car was built 25 years ago by Karl. Never dreamed he would ever be racing it :) Not bad for his first time either.

Pretty straight forward build using H&R chassis and we glued on PG tires, MT5 for power.

Some great wrecks and laughs.

Last one of the day :)

Had a great time. Thanks all for showing and racing.

Nice work there! Great looking older build. I'm sure it is much more fun driving it than sitting it on the shelf!

BTW, doesn't he look like Liam Neeson teaching The Professor how to build in this picture?

A special thanks to Harry and all the guys. I had a good time and I can't remember the last time that I laughed that much. The pictures only show me working on the car, but anyone that has ever had the privilege to build a car (little lone there first car) at the Skunk Works knows that I had a lot of top quality help.

How cool to take a car that I have looked at for years and turn it into a slot car. I never dreamed that I would ever see that thing take a lap around a track under power when I built it. The car was built when I was a teenager and sat on a self for years. It has been in a box with the other I had built for more than 15 years. After several moves in the last 6 years I was tempted to throw the box out rather than move it several times. I could never make myself do it and now I am glad that I didn't. With the help of the masters the Super Bee has a new life and will hold a new special place in my hart as my first slot car build. It is also the largest slot car that I have ever owned.

Another way to look at it would be one down 9 to go. Now that I have an idea what to do am going to have to get H&R chassis for the rest of the cars in the box.

Looks like we were a day early for the new grill, but we were treated to a delicious meal all the same. I will look forward to a meal off the new grill in the future.

Side note... Tom thinks I'm crazy after helping me finish off the Pine Wood Derby cars late last night. Good news the cars finished 2nd. and 3rd. and we will be heading to the district races. Thanks for the help Tom. I told you that I wasn't taking it to far.

Thanks guys I had a great time.
