Thanks for the detail review. It seems my set was put together after lunch. Nothing major, but the instructions, wrench, and the tires were not included. Also, the guides were not installed. Once again no big deal, easy fix. Worth the money.

A very interesting review. I wonder what is prompting Avant Slot to jump in with re-releases of older cars at much lower prices than their initial runs. The GT1 Elise is also out again now, and is about $20 less now than it was a few years back.

It's also good to know that in case the car rockets off the table and becomes airborne, the driver is already safely inside of a Russian pressure suit.

I agreee that the Avant Slot models now appearing are worth considering. I picked up a Gulf Mirage and the yellow Lotus and think they can be as competitive as any other brand currently available. The 'new' pricing makes them very attractive.

Avant Slot also offers replacemet aluminum anglewinder motor pods at a very good price (shop around - I've seen prices range from under $20 to over $40). I feel the added rigidity of the aluminum is a benefit to the anglewinder configuration when using motors with higher torque.

I also like the chassis; it's clean, simple and rigid. Though I like to use a Slot.It motor pods
I find the aluminum pod with its 3 point mount to be an effective design. Time will tell.

Great review. The stub axles up front have me puzzled as to whether or not they will work better than a solid axle. I'll have to pick one up to figure it out.

The front end will be interesting as not only is the height adjustable independently, but it is possible to add some camber to the front wheels.
Im looking forward to spending a bit of time testing and tuning them, and I did order the aluminum anglewinder pods too. I have seen them in use and they make quite a difference in performance.

I can't say adding/adjusting the camber will do anything. I tried it here and saw no difference. Since the fronts are hardly touching my track given the tripod setup I set, and of course that the car doesn't have active suspension up there. I mean, my goal was to reduce any traction up front. I gave the stock tires a couple coats of Future as usual.

Remember my track is far from any of the larger tracks most competitive racers are running on.

But I did see the new pod you mentioned. I was curious if anyone has used it and how they liked it. Look forward in hearing your report Bob, I think the cars deserve a good follow up.

One of my favorite cars. Got both the blue and white no. 10's years ago. Good to see distribution and availability in N.A. is more widespread, hopefully, for the parts as well. Particularly, the hard green chassis and motor pods (aluminum and plastic) for wood track racers.



Installed the hard chassis and aluminum motor pod that helped reduce the hop on hard acceleration found on the torquey-motored car. Chassis's screwed tight to the body and the three point pod is quite loose front and back. Ditched the independent front axles and replaced with a single one.

The green aluminum pod is a beauty with ball bearings and is quite reasonably-priced at the N.A. online stores now. I've had good results with the hard green plastic motor pod on my Kremer for those who want to spend less.

I've broken a couple of those green guides so maybe the new ones are made from less brittle material.

If you stay with the stock chassis and motor pod, I'd suggest replacing the rear plastic bushings with tighter tolerance metal ones and going with a better axle too.

All in all, a fast and good handling car with minor or more major changes.
