Im liking what I see so far, I'm sure I can find an 8' X 4' space to build one for a rally hillclimb series of course a future series , as if we don't have enough already :lol:

Got some more done on the Dragon today. The complete frame work is done, and some track supports installed as well. they can be moved up or down to change the level of the track, so I can add some dips and such while it rises upward. Tomorrow I should get the ribbon cut out, and maybe moved onto the frame. That's the tricky part, doing it without breaking the track!
The basic framework is made up of 1x4's, with 2x4 legs. I made the frame 8'6" wide to allow some edge scenery for a more finished look when done. I put some conduit on the supports to show the amount of climb.

Got the ribbon cut out this AM. Even got it up on the framework, and secured! Not far from paint and tape at this point.
You can really get an idea of the layout at this point, and it looks like it will be as fun as I had hoped.
Anyone contemplating a hill climb track should really consider doing this, Its a cheap track to build, takes up little space considering the amount of track you get, and is very easy to build. stay tuned, as I hope to get more done in the coming days!

Hooray for more hillclimbs! If I got that far so fast I'd go ahead and make another, join them together at top and bottom and have a continuous loop instead of the hassle of wiring up turn-around switches. Twice as much track is always better. ;)

Anyhow, a more productive comment - on hairpins and complex wavy curvy sections of my track the copper tape quickly started to migrate, and I had to tack it all down with copper nails. You'll want to watch out for that and catch it right away.

Run out of steam tonight. Got the whole track transported to the shop today, made the trip fine in my truck. Now its settled into its resting place, and has three coats of satin finish latex on it, all screw holes filled, and I started testing the Slot dragon system, getting ready for the install. Tracking says my tape wont be here till Friday, so i am stuck till then. Picked up the screen wire for the scenery today too, so I can be doing that while I wait on the tape. whew! getting up at 3;30, going in early at 4;15 to work on this thing has taken its toll tonight! here are a couple more pics, then its kick back time.
