Pop the body off and give us a picture of the chassis. I bet someone here can tell who made it.

Waytoo, I'll bet it's an early Scaley with the big light bulb in the middle of the chassis.

Yep, early Scalextric. It looks like the bumpers are missing.

When these came out they were the biggest hatchback on the market. For us who were used to seeing mostly English cars this one was big and had a 3.5litre V8 based on a Buick design.

I have a couple of the Scalex bodies and hope to do a resin version sometime. They were raced in saloon car racing in the UK as well as down under...even at Bathhurst.

The quickest version was the Vitesse.
The car won the DTM championship and the British Touring Car championship.
Typical build quality of its time from the British motor industry though.

Had a couple of 1:1 SD1s many years ago, a 5 spd. and auto. Rather large compared to the small British cars that I was used to. Bodies rusted out badly and ended up salvaging the 3.5 aluminum motors, gearboxes and taller rear end gears for projects. Good memories.

Nice, I bought one as a kid when they first came out. As said above, it's made by Scalextric and I think it's one of the last made with the old large can motor, just after that Scalextric mostly swapped to the Mabuchi S can. They made a few different types, I also had a yellow Marshall's car (track safety car) and a police car too which had a flashing light and a siren. It's missing front and rear bumpers and mirrors too, you can get some parts from RUSC - the Really Useful Spares Company in England.
