Well you know what a Lola is and some other people know what a Lola is but you have to understand that once you get beyond the obvious brands knowledge of those brands goes down a LOT for the average person.

And for some reasons (the Green GT) we do make what the design director lovingly calls the "Carrera oddities" so no there's not an "always adhere" you're reading WAY too much into my comments.

I personally wouldn't suggest to Carrera to do this (Lola) car, i would actually argue against it in favor of cars that MANY more people would recognize. Sure you can do through the line and pick out (as you have) odd cars we've done and by and large you're pointing to cars that have sold poorly (which makes my point, even though you'd not have a way of knowing that since we don't announce the number of cars we've sold).
Green GT-open top LeMans type car... you know what it is just as well as i do.. you might not know the brand but you know the shape and purpose of it. Right? ;)
Opels... my point is made... low interest cars outside of Europe due to low brand awareness outside home markets.
Lola/CanAm in general... low interest outside of the North American market. Virtually unknown by the average person in Europe since it was the "Canadian American" series after all.
Having the benefit of working for 2 companies now and seeing for about a decade the sales of certain cars that "slotters would die to get" i see somewhat more clearly what sells and what doesn't and I base my suggestions to Carrera on those years of experience (though I grant you i never stop learning about the market).

I guess we have gotten used to Carrera being one of the last companies who even care enough to listen to us over here. So we sometimes (myself included) get carried away on our "I really, really want that and I know it would sell" rants :)

You can keep the Lola. I have it in 1/32. Most folks balk at the car in 1/32 and choose other models over it come race day. So why bother?

Meanwhile, just because I don't want you to get bored.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post, Dave. While I'm a bit bummed that we won't be seeing a big Lola any time soon, I'm thrilled that these Ferrari 330s are back in production. I've wanted one for a while now but missed their initial offering and refuse to pay ludicrous ebay prices for the old ones. Seeing this car back is just what the doctor ordered.

Harry, Are those real front-ends on those Nationwide cars? (as opposed to a uniform blob of a body such as in the Winston Cup) I never noticed that about them before. If only there was a true "stock" racing car series.

Can appreciate that there is only one rule that is applied to what car should be made. Can I sell enough to turn a profit on investment. Id like to know the demographics on the 1/24 stuff. Id say there would be very little in the kiddies market. It would be almost exclusively adults. Am I correct? Then you narrow it down even more. What adults would buy 60s vintage LeMans Ferraris? Would have to be in their 50s and have an appreciation Ferrari and maybe of Lemans. Although I suspect that the Ferrari brand is known by almost everyone, even someone in southern USA that watches only NASCAR. What would the demographics be for a purchaser of the 1/24 Porsche 906/6? Small child in California as a Christmas present? Probably not. 50 year old with a motor sport history from Germany. Probably yes. And like has been posted above, some choices defy logic, so someone within the organisation has in the past made poor selections either because they have pushed a personal agenda along or plainly got it wrong and not done their homework.

So Carrera don't turn a profit on 124? Then why do it? Im not picturing Carrera as a benevolent organisation catering to the needs of 100 odd people world wide. Whats the logic behind producing something that wont turn a profit? Strange?
