You have to be careful when you clear coat a car, especially if it has decals on it. I have used Future for years and in my experience it is not durable enough to protect the decals on a car that will be raced or even handled a lot. If you use a clear that is the same make as the colored paint you should be OK, except for the decals. Automotive clears are usually very hot and will attack decals as well as non-automotive paints. I use Testors clear and I have also had good luck with Krylon Crystal Clear. Future is water based and will not attack decals. Brushing Future on inkjet printed decals can cause them to smear unless they have been sealed with something like Testors Decal Bonder. After I put decals on a car I give them a couple of coats of Future, that acts as a protective layer to reduce the chances that your clear coat will harm the decals.
