With all my cars I first try to work with what comes with the car. With this car, I did your basic tune up and it ran well. But with yellow dog wheels (U) it was much better. The car is smooth as silk.

I could not get that rusted set screw out, as the inside of the set screw was rounded out. To make it worse the other one ended up in the same state as I tried to fix the first one, so I ended up with two seemingly unusable 15x7 SCC steelies. To get around this problem I basically got the original Carrera bushings and axle (with splined ends) and bashed the SCC wheels onto them, adding a little superglue for good measure. These seem to be holding on and I am able to use the otherwise useless wheels and they match the back ones, to which I added Yellow Dogs all around. I adjusted the backlash on the NSR crown to reduce noise and soldered the motor wires back on and put the car back together for a few laps. It ran well so then I added some lead (the adhesive backed stuff from Professor Motor) to the floor ( I ground away some useless plastic so that it would sit flat) and just in front on the motor). This gave me a balance point 3/4 between the front and rear wheels. I also rounded the front edge of the Sloting Plus guide, and as a result it seems to run well on the SCX plastic track now; I just have to test it on wood now. The SCC wheels at the back make a real difference. The Slot.It rear axle, bushings, and Slot.It/NSR gears set up also make it real smooth

The following photos do not show one area where considerable modification was done; i.e., grinding away inside the pod to clear the NSR gear. If you fit such gears just remember that both top and bottom pieces need to be ground away almost to the brass insert that holds the screw

Those rusted screws are a new one for me. What the heck?

Other wise looks great. Sawing away some material to get something to fit is fun :) Congrats on getting it done.

The screws arrived rusty ... I've gone back through my emails and worked out which shop sold them to me ... it was the same place that I recently bought a Pioneer Mustang from, and I would have said something to them when I was there in Sydney if I realised. I threw the rest of the screws out. They also seem to be short by comparison with the screws that come with the SCC wheels. The part was Slot. It, SIPA58

I had the B-Nova conversion set too deep, without allowing for the brushes. I had to break the ring around it but I managed to work the guide conversion loose and reinstall it at the proper height with brushes in. Now the front of the body sits so low that I found it clipped the track in one or two spots, so I ground the front valance so that it is straight (missing the centre bulge) and it seems okay now
