Hmm. I'll have to take a file into work with me tomorrow and see if it works to make modifications. If it does, then I can save it and open it up in my cad system at home. What I found interesting with the fdm printers is temperature. My current printer heats up the filament to 240c where the old one I had used 205c but had a hard time maintaining that temperature. The finished prints are smoother with the new printer for that reason plus it uses a thicker filament, 3.0mm compared to the old printers 1.75mm. I might get a smoother print by adjusting the print layer thickness but by this time I am getting very impatient. The average print time has taken about 3 hours to print out a body and about an hour and a half for the chassis. To get s fine layer laid down you are looking at 6-8 hours. Add that to the roughly twenty hours I spend modeling up the chassis in cad. The model A body I did, I spent forty hours modeling that up to where I liked it. Just my two cents.

To Shotgun Dave:

I have in my hand, your 41 Plymouth that arrived today. It is a beautiful body. The finish is very smooth and the only place I can see 3D printer lines are in the windows, and those are being removed anyway.

To all of you:

I believe that 3D printing will improve to the point that any of us can request a certain car in a certain scale and there will be someone out there, either an individual or a company who can make it in one shot. The printing is getting better all the time, and soon it will not be necessary to cast it in resin, just print and go.

Wow, I didn't realize how much of an investment you put into these Bodies besides all of the manual labor you do on them. Thanks for the quality product.
I took a file in yesterday to try it out on Solidworks, looks like I will need more training for it didn't do any good for me. Either way, I still enjoy playing with these in an attempt to improve what little I know.
