Recently got my first iPhone and I downloaded an "App" - I am thinking it was one or two dollars.

Used it last night for time trials and qualifying, and it worked really well. Video motion sensor trips the clocks and record lap times.

I recommend it - extremely easy to use - and accurate to hundredths (1.77 seconds - like that).

It is called "sprintTimer" and has some other "photo finish" features like they do in current television track and field coverage.

The Droid Slotcar Trainer is good. Took me a lot of fiddling to get it dialled into my track, but that's more about accessibility to suitable areas on my track. The pro version (around 2 bucks) records lap records and multiple drivers. Don't quote me on the driver's bit, I've only just installed the pro. I haven't used it yet.
