Artin Rohr Porsche GT1

Postby chappyman66 » Sun Aug 30, 2015 9:04 pm

I have always loved the ROHR Porsche GT-1 liveries......the paint splash liveries were some of my favorites. I have the Carrera GT1 EVO, and the Ninco yellow version. But I didn't have the white version....and somehow couldn't bring myself to buy the Fly.
But I did have several Artin versions.......looking like this, complete with half-peeling vinyl stickers:

After a little fingernail work, I had a reasonable "white kit":

I found the decals on the auction site. I should have looked more closely; they are for the white GT1 EVO rather than the earlier GT1. But no matter; I would make them work. It's an Artin car, after all.
I did a light detailing on the driver/interior and a coat of black on the body openings, then went to work on the decals. Several (3-4) hours of work got me to this point:

A touch of blue on the mirror housings, and a coat of Future later, we have the finished article:

It's not a concours winner, but I am happy with it.....I have a white ROHR GT1 and something that looks different than my other Artin Porsches for when the grandson wants to race.

Great job on then re livery.
Even on an Artin Car it does wonders.

Been a long time since I have seen an Artin repaint and this is a good one.

Well done.

I think your post solves a mystery concerning a certain Porsche 911 GT1 that I own. Up to now I was uncertain of it's origin. BTW, nice work on yours.

Very cool/sharp; and just like the Artin stockers, with just a little effort, they can be made to look as good as any of the "big name" manufacturers.
Too bad we no longer have a ready source for these affordable cars.

I like it. I still have two of those Artin GT1 porsches and still play with them from time to time, I always did like Artin cars and the track too once the drivers stations were wired for brakes. I have one of those Porsches that came with an odd ball hot motor. I am sure that it is Artin due to the length of the shaft but she sure is fast.

I actually like the Artin cars. With a little Fly-esque tuning, they run pretty well and will compete with the NC1 motored Nincos. The chassis make good donors; my ROAR MG is a converted Artin.
I have several of the Artin Lolas that will be chassis donors.......if anyone wants several Artin Lola B2K bodies, let me know ;)

And yes.....they seem to come with two motors. I had a couple that were just screaming fast.......like they had 18K motors in them instead of the 14K. I pulled those motors for other use...the Artins get run on my track as beginner cars where I don't care so much about the damage - don't let the newbies drive the Fly Classics.

Artins show up on the auction site periodically but go for $25 or more which I think it too high. I grab them when I can though.....good basic cars.
