Not much going because of the event, but a small update.

As nice as it is, I did notice we had room to clean things up a little. After taking it apart I noticed some flash molding and a few areas that caused a very slight bind.

First was removing the interior and sanding the bottom flush. A common mod we do to many cars. Also removed the rear tabs that sit on the top of the bushings. No need for them here as they will be dealt with later.

These areas can stand a little clean up too. I noticed the body slightly pinching on them. Again, a commom mod we all do. HOWEVER, check THE BODY as well. There was flash molding that I trimmed clean with a hobby knife BEFORE trimming the chassis.

Another pesky area. I want to keep the pipes and did not feel like doing the old "slice and dice" and gluing the, to the body. All it needed was the tops cleaned to remove some heavy flash that caused the body not to sit cleanly on top. I used the lean edge of my file for this, worked well.

Thanks Harry, I'll need to get mine out and revisit it also. I found it had the pinion with a misaligned hole so I need to get back and fix that along with your suggestions here.

No. I found mine locally. Look at your local mower shop or even Lowe's. Some of the tubing used for weed eater/chainsaw fuel line works. Some of it is too big, look for the thinner versions.

OR you can use the tube of a cheap ink pen :)

OR contact Audi1 here on the forum. I was told he has enough to lasso the moon.

After looking at this closer...I have an opportunity present.

I could lower the body a little. I certainly am no fan of the "stepped on" look regardless of any handling increase, but looking at prototype photos tells me I could lower this body slightly to not only increase the performance (however slight) as well as improve the look. No trimming of the wheel wells would be needed, just some creative work on the sides.

The catch would be having further interior pan "adjustments" :) I don't mind that, do it all the time on Pioneer and other Scalextric.

So what say YOU? Go for it or leave it be?

I say lower a little. Makes a big difference in the looks. Are those front tires stock? They look smaller. Lowering will make them look extra good.

Yes Rob, was going to leave the fronts. I have already twisted one off and have the set ready for Razoring. Plan to install the stock tires back on and true again as usual.

The current stock front axle assembly has a country mile of side to side freeplay. I'll shim that with those handy little SCC shims to keep the proper width.

I'd go for it. Looks like you could safely drop it by 0.050, but don't hold me to that number. I'll also be taking notes soi can do it to my L88. Hopefully the lowering won't take out the lights, that is one of the most important options according to my little Racers(grandkids).:)
