Carrera's Dave Kennedy at Corvette Museum

Postby RV Racing » Tue Sep 08, 2015 4:16 pm

Here he is -- Carrera Marketing Manager (and forum member) David Kennedy in action at the National Corvette Museum's 21st Anniversary Celebration in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on the Labor Day weekend! There was always a crowd around the Carrera test track. Here Dave is shooting an impromptu video as two young slot car enthusiasts put the Carrera cars through their paces.

Naturally there was a lot of interest in the new Corvette C7.R slot cars. The 1/32 analog version is already on my wish list.

Well done, Dave!

It is great to see this type of marketing being done as there is nothing that helps cement how fun these cars are better than getting to actually run them!
Kudos to both Dave K and Carrera for continuing to promote in this manner!

Just a couple of the many reasons why Carrera wins our little award every year.

How did i miss this? Well thanks for posting this photo and the thread. Events like this are really important to us because we get to meet the friends we have from the forums ;) but also we get the chance to directly reach people to show them slots. I don't want to get all misty eyed on you guys here but I personally take that part of the job seriously. Getting families to play together and to show kids this type of toy is really important. I always tell parents and grandparents that this isn't a toy just for their kids... it's for EVERYONE.
Yes we grow up but we don't need to put away "childish things". We need to enjoy them with our children. It's my job to remind parents of that.

Did you bring home any 1:1 cars? I'm sure they have extras!

Getting youth interested in a hobby must be difficult because of the many techincal products that are in front of them.
When I race at either of the 2 local tracks, I ALWAYS bring a couple of cars that I let the kids run. Somedays I marshall the track more than I race on it when kids see what is going on.

Not really as hard a sell as you might think. I explain "digital" as a "gaming system" it's not just round and round, there's more to it. Kids get that once you explain the features.
