The price seems a bit high, when you can get a generic Slot it on-line for $22 or so which includes the pod. Maybe they will be more competitive later on. Still if you have to have a Fly chassis it's not a bad deal.

Well...not that I would use them, but for the extra few bucks, just getting the inserts might be worth it.

Some folks don't have the tools, or even want to turn down existing wheels to make the inserts.

I do that and honestly, I would rather have premade inserts. It would save me a lot of time.

I certainly would be I terested in those Porsche 917 and 908 chassis in sidewinder.
They may mean no carving of the interior tray, and would give a better platform than the stock fly chassis to tune from.
I think they mus be popular as the stock on them is low at the moment.

I have a Chevron and 917K that could make good use of this!

I hope someone in the USA picks up these chassis since neither of my credit card companies will approve an overseas sale and they don't take paypal.

Guess i`m just "special" but I kinda dig my ole fly cars running like ole fly cars. A few simple tunning points, and they are just groovy. But I`m no racer, just like to enjoy my cars in thier own skins. If all my cars ran like a slot.it, I would be bored out of my mind.

ModlerBob

Check out Shapeways. They have a chassis for $10.09 that fits the Fly 917 Spyder.

Yes I do have one. Hopefully I can test it this Saturday at Deary Glen.

Just thought you'd like to know.

I do have a spare I can haul over. Perhaps some horse trading is in order?

This one comes with wheel inserts. I've already bought a shapeways chassis for the Ferrari 512 and after buying wheel inserts I spent over $25. I ordered this new one from Ghost Trax to see what the difference is. It looks to me like the parts are injection molded in the traditional way. My shapeways 512 chassis is showing signs of not being as sturdy as I had hoped as I have found with other 3D printed items.

Bob - I would definitely welcome the feedback on the 512 chassis! If it has a few miles on it - I'm definitely interest to hear it's problems. If you want to help improve it - you can have the first couple on me! I'm going to do version 2.0 on all the fly stuff shortly anyway....
I would also be curious to hear your thoughts on the Ghost Trax chassis when you get it!

Just my $.02
I haven't seen the Ghost Trax chassis in person - I haven't even seen pictures... But they introduced a line of Fly replacement chassis about this time last year (in case anyone missed it). Same thing as this - wheel inserts, exhaust pipes etc. "Made from Polymide" is another way to say they are 3D printed. I don't think they are injected nylon plastic. Same method as Shapeways is my guess... They look nice in the pictures anyway - haven't seen much talk about them in Europe etc...

I think like any new product they took what I had and tried to improve it - or take from it.... When they did a performance test with new chassis - they put all their chassis up against my 908 chassis..... Somehow, mine finished last... Not a big deal - and I like the fact they use mine as the target to shoot for....(forget for a moment they use an angle winder with magnetic effect..). 908 was the first one I made - it's extremely simple, works OK.... I only made it because - at the time - I just wanted to improve a car I had... The car went so well - I let people try it - next thing I know there's a line down the street that want one...

Time to start working on CG 2.0..... I can't let these guys show me up :-) :flags-waveusa: :flags-waveusa: :flags-waveusa:
Any thoughts on improving the Fly stuff - let me know!

So far my shapeways CG chassis has performed well and my Ferrari 512 is as fast as any of my classic slot.it GT cars. This Ghost Trax chassis may be my only purchase but I did want to check it out in person. And you are right it too is a 3D product.

I got my Ghost Trax EVO V2 chassis designed for the Fly Lola T-70 yesterday. Not to bad time delay from Spain. This chassis frame is 3D printed as previously noted. It can accommodate all three types of slot.it motor pods. I have one of the Fly T70's that came with an inline motor and tray interior so I will be installing the slot.it inline motor setup. It is designed to use the two front body posts but not the two on the sides right in front of the rear wheel wells. Instead they include a part that incorporates a center body post, the spare tire, the exhausts and the rear jack bar. It attaches to the inside of the rear deck and includes a hole where there is a pin on the body. Everything lines up perfectly. There are holes for grub screws above and below the front axle posts and finally there are three pairs of wheel inserts, a large pair for the rear hubs, a medium sized pair that fits the standard slot.it front rims and a small pair if you are using the small front rims from either the Ferrari 312P or the Alpha Romeo. The inserts look pretty good compared to other 3D printed parts I've seen and they are correct for the Lola. I will take pictures later in the day and post them in the evening. If I get the car assembled tonight I will review the performance compared to my other T-70 with a sidewinder HRS2 chassis.
