Having the motor offset to the left makes for a more stable car on a clockwise oval, even with the guide centered. And the tighter the lane the car is in the more the offset weight helps keep the car planted on the track.

If we had a fantasy draft for the 'Showdown' you'd be my top pick.

Yes, counter-clockwise. That was a dumb mistake, thanks for catching it. Of course it might not matter much in the future. A lady told me this week a school girl asked her why were those things moving around that round thing. She didn't know how to tell time from a clock.

This is a good group. I might try building a car and joining the fun.

Dave, do the side pans move front to rear? I noticed that you have them attached front and rear with wire inserted into brass tubing. I also noted that the solid wire in the middle is inserted into a square channel, which made me thing that if the square channel was wider then the wire and if the end wires were narrower than the brass tubes, then the side pods would move, relative to the central chassis piece, controlled by how much free space there was between the central wire and the square channel. Both Dennis and Chris have mentioned side pod movement in the past, as a way to isolate body movement from the chassis, that's why I'm asking.
