Swap meet score!

Went up to Colpar Hobbies in Denver today for the slot car swap meet. Was able to get both of these including a Baggie of missing suspension parts for the red one. Going to do a light restore on them and drive the snot out of them!

Both are Monogram Ferrari. Brass Chassis cars that are stupid expensive usually and I practically gave one away about 10 years ago like an idiot...

Thanks! I am going to have fun with these. Have some inserts to make, tires from Paul G are purchased and some new decals too. The NART ones were simply too far gone to attempt to fix on the body.

Nice finds! I have the one my Dad raced back in the 60's and a unbuilt kit body from him also. I need to find a chassis for that one.

Hi Dave,...Great Score!!. The Monogram Ferrari and lotus are on many folks Holy Grail list...including mine, and luckily I have managed to find both, as well as finding a few of their static kits.

They can be made into really great runners, and despite not having the detail of some of the current crop of cars, they are still some of the nicest looking cars ever made.

Dart Hobbies has some correct inserts, Repops of the original Monogram tires (with original sidewall markings), and he may have made a clear resin copy of the windshield (he has done one for the Lotus and it is superb).

Below is a build up using one of the "static" body kits,... it is currently running in the VRAA proxy.

Chris - I actually am using yours as a reference LOL! I've got the correct 5-spoke inserts already and only need the glass, but may have one here somewhere.

Both cars are stripped, new decals and tires are on the way and chassis cleaning has commenced!
