I'm almost ready to start my car - the brass order from Chicagoland Hobbies arrived today.
But, I can't wait much longer to start on the body because it's getting cold here in Maine and I don't have a heated and ventilated place to paint, so the barn will have to do. My car is going to be three-tone, red white, and blue, with a white hood like yours. How did you do the painting - start with an overall coat of white, then mask off the areas to stay white and go over the rest with red? I'm still undecided about an overall white base coat first, or just mask off what doesn't get each color and do it in 3 partial coats. For an overall base coat, how long does it need to dry before putting masking tape on it?
The base color is light blue which is the color of the plastic on a Monogram Mario Andretti Ford Fairlane that spent a day soaking in brake fluid over a year ago. The body seemed brittle after that which is why I never did anything with it, but seems okay now.
