I used a flat headed, countersink bolt actually ( I know I said screw, sorry!) that I can then put a nut on the bottom and use a crimp-on ring for the wire underneath.

Thanks for the clarification Dave, I guessed countersink bolt but wanted to be sure. 
I started my rendition of the 4 x8 oval you presented. Except for a few goofs with the router, I am really happy with my results. I will start a thread when I get my photos organized. Really happy with all the inspiration generated for this hobby with everyone's advise, help and support.
