Did you ever weigh what you ended up with from the Fly body vs the Carrera?

Yes, about 8 gms lighter with the Fly body. Still more than I'd like (12-16g), but it will have to do..................

I was wondering, I have the Carrera. Not sure I can outbuild it's chassis though...it runs pretty good, I'd just add weight. Lazy I guess.

Does anybody know if there are still free places ?

And - class P - would it be allowed to use a scatchbuilt cassis from styrene or pcb, or have the cassis to be factory made ?

Walker, I think the CanAm proxy is still open. PM shotgundave to get a definitive answer. For the P Class, I think that any plastic chassis is legal; from RTR to scratch built and everything in between.

You can do what Bill from NH said about making that U bend and then use a piece of brass tubing to connect the two pieces. After it's soldered just grind the bottom of the tubing off so the wires lay flat. It would make the solder joint stronger.

Use some sort of wheel blank to make sure the axle is perfectly horizontal to the jig, don't trust that the bracket is perfect. You can use old gears for wheel blanks if you don't have any.

If you think you are going to do a lot of scratch building get yourself a set of these pliers. http://www.micromark.com/metal-forming- ... ,7068.html The one at the top of the picture really makes bending piano wire easy.

Thanks Butch, I have that set of pliers and the one at the top is the one that made the box bend in the piano wire main frame in my pics.

Thanks also for the idea on joining two L-bends to form a U-bend.

I'm coming along slowly on this build and probably won't have much more to show before the start of 2016. I have the brass pieces cut out for the center section of the chassis; rear platform, mid platform, guide tongue platform and guide holder. No soldering yet......................
