The white #14 car was driven by Eddie Flemke, it was built by Rick and Ray Garuti. "Modified Stock Car Racing of the '60s and '70s" by Steve Kennedy is a great resource for cars of that period.

There were a few people that drove for the Garuti bros, I don't remember who was in that car then. This was taken the same year (I think) at Thompson. Ed Flemke.

Ed Flemke drove the 2X for Bobby Judkins. I was wondering if that "ballast" was actually a catch tank for the radiator overflow. A few cars of that period did corner with the inside front wheel off the track, but not at Thompson with its 25 degree banking. I was wondering if Ed Flemke was driving two different cars during that time period, that would not have been all that unusual. Both the 2X and the 14 cars that are pictured had fuel injection, if I remember correctly that had been outlawed starting in 1970.
