Dremel

Postby WB2 » Thu Jan 07, 2016 1:27 pm

I noticed a sign in the local Lowe's this morning that all Dremel tools and accessories will be 15% off this Saturday and Sunday in conjunction with Pinewood Derby.
Most of the tools are already showing a lower price of $10 - $15.

My Dremel is so old it was made in the US. New accessories don't fit it.
Any recommendations on a new one?

The other one that is versatile is the 8220 model. Cordless, and holds a good chge, and a quick charger with it. Only one battery comes with it, variable speed, battery strength indicator. Quick change collar.
I dont think you can go wrong with the recommendations from the users here on the form.

I was looking at this based on your recommendations. I found this recall notice on the Dremel site. Just thought I would pass the information along.

I saw that too. Dremel rep had me do a test on mine and it passed so I kept it. Set the unit on the lowest setting and let run 30 seconds. If it stays on that speed, the sensor is fine.

They still offered to replace it, so I cannot complain really.

Over a year and many a slot project. If it lasts half as long as my old one, I'll be happy.

On the Micro 8050, can the internal battery be replaced at the end of it's life or is the tool junk?

No it cannot. According to Dremel, they have no real lifespan estimate. So I guess it's just junk.

Meanwhile, it has A 2 YEAR warranty. If battery fails they replace the unit. Confirmed this over a year ago and this afternoon. With the new reduced price at my Lowe's ($68 bucks), I stand by my review and recommendation.

Most prefer traditional corded models, so if cordless is not something you trust or need, forget this one.

I can tell you this tool of Harrys got a work out over a year ago at a Fun Run, Dave cut up about 6 bodies, we all used it from chopping out resin, cutting hardened steel pins, it never got a rest all weekend and its still running like new. If this tool can make it through a fun run with us guys its tough

I am not paid for this endorsement

Just plumb darn redneck truth :violence-stickwhack:
