I have a scratch built Alfa Romeo that I've posted build pics of on the Honeycomb thread. It has a BWA 050 in a D3D super slim pod. It tied for first in class in the last U13 proxy and is currently running first in class in the Last Open Road proxy (Both of these proxies are reported on SCI) I find if you gear them right you can make a winner. Mine is geared, I think, 9 on the pinion and 24 on the crown. Even though 050 motors as a rule don't have much torque, these ones seem good.
I haven't done a straight test between the M/T and BWA, but Robert has.
Robert Livingston's Motor list tests them as follows:
BWA BWMS050 (FF-050) tested 14,145-14,702 RPM/12v tested 63-71 gcm/12v, 2.4W/12v
M/T Racing M/T SL-1 (FF-050) 14,702 RPM/12v, tested 13,465-13,805 RPM/12v tested 77 gcm/12v, tested 2.6W/12v
If we assume this is a result across the batch, the BWA tested a bit faster, but a bit less torque and horsepower than the M/T.
Cheers,
Keith
