Marty was one of the best. Always willing to help another racer get the best out of his or her car. We had a lot of really good times over the last four years and he will really be missed. Three years ago DeBary Glen was a 65' four lane scalextric sport track that took a little time to win him over to 1/32 racing. Then an opportunity came along to purchase a 4 lane 65' routed mdf track on a 16' x 8' table. I was doubtful but Marty insisted on us taking a ride over to Palm Bay, Fl. to check it out. The track had just been completed and still had a lot of rough edges but Marty was sold so I parted with my HO railroad layout and Palm Bay raceway was moved to DeBary where Marty and I spent many afternoons and evenings duking it out in one v one shoot outs. We sometimes ran for up to 30 minutes side by side neither of us giving an inch but also neither of us intentionally nerfing the other off the track. Marty did his best at race director and promoter and we did have some fine events. Last summer I had to reduce my expenses so the track was modified and moved to my house after I purchased it from Marty. Due to his illness he was only able to make the trip two or three times but even on his last visit his slot car skills were still with him. I sent a message yesterday that assured him that as long as I am around the track will remain open to any slot racer who wants to come play and that every time aI turn the power on I will be thinking of him. R.I.P Marty.
