Early modified build! 35 Chevy sedan

This build was inspired by Vintage 1/24 and his Baldwin mod coupe build. My first attempt at building one from almost scratch. At this point I will say I'm pleased with the results. These are just plain cool! It started as an AMT kit which I paid waaaay too much for. Cool has a price, but hey! The chassis is a 4.5 Parma FCR cut & fit to the body. For you guys that may want to tackle a chassis project, get a good quality soldering iron rated at least 100 watts. A 100/140watt gun wont cut it. I'm going to start the beautification process from here. The chassis is painted with a charcoal gray metallic. Looks better in person. I will post more pics as I go. Maybe a while as I am working on my track too. Too much fun.....not near enuff time!! Rich

Looks great - the brass bar work really sets the kit off just right!

I did one of these dirt modified kits a while back, and struggled to make it into an asphalt car. I shifted the rear wheel well back and moved the B-pillar as well. But I was trying to replicate a particular car from Islip Speedway that ran in the late 60s...

Right now we are running a hardbody modified class at South Shore Speedway, and also at Small Torque Speedway, here on Long Island. So actually a few of these kits are getting built up again.

I just hope someone re-releases these again as they are already getting scarce and hard to find.

Great fun building with brass and ,piano wire, I have yet to jump back in time to build this style of modified, ....When I get these 50s sportsman stockers out of my blood......

Thanks to all for the kind words. Seeing all the builds and projects in the forums makes them a tough act to follow. Some real craftsmen in here! Vintage 1/24 I love the wheel inserts on that sedan. Looks just like the old 3/4 ton floater axels in the rear. I will try and get some more progress on this one. I'm busy putting my extra time into my track right now.
