Flash back,Scalextric Super Speedway....

Postby ourwayband » Tue Mar 08, 2016 7:51 pm

I know most of you remember these type of sets...I needed some classic track to complete my off road layout that I'm in the process of building..Ran across this one. This is one time I bought the set for the track, not the cars..Opened up the box and found out this is brand new.Track never assembled, controllers never used, cars new..You never know.Had forgotten just how well these old sets were made..My self, like many others have moved on to Carrera and wood tracks. But it is kinda cool putting these NOS track pieces together..Kinda hate mangling some of it for the off road ..But still will....
Do you remember that new controller smell?? ;) Planned on selling the cars ,then test ran the them, they are still fun.
Bibbster and I started out with this stuff..I now remember why we had so many laughs and good times..
Sorry just had to share some fun memories..

Same here. Was my first track. My second one was the one with the John Deere and Dewalt, and third one was the LeMans set with the Pacer system. Great memories.

My first scaley track was the Watkins Glen layout where you could buy the matching track to get four lanes. That was only six years ago.

That is very cool. Great find! I remember that set. What is the year on the race set? I was thinking mid to late 90's but wasn't sure.

Best regards,

A few years ago I had accumulated a lot of "track bucks" from race wins and podium finishes at the commercial track while running our 1/24 hardbody FCR series. So I decided to take the Scaley Super Speedway set they had there for sale. The owner gave me a deal because it wasn't selling and would rather turn it over and use the cash for buying merchandise for the raceway that sells regularly like Parma controllers, Flexi Kars, ect. The set I got contained the new Scaley Sport track sections, with two NASCAR stockers - #20 Home Depot Tony Stewart and # 18 Interstate Battery Bobby Labonte. I kept the cars (I don't remember if they've ever been run), and gave the rest of the set to a good friend who wanted to run some vintage 1/32 stuff just for kicks and was tired of fighting with his old Eldon track. I thought they were great sets to sell in the US, especially with the "tricky triangle" circuit instead of the usual oval.
Have fun with the Classic Scaley set up. -- Ernie :>)

I thought some of you might have some cool memories with this!
The date is 97 Brian..
Tony,My first set was also the LeMans set with the pacer system..
I remember how the guys at the hobby shop showed me how to lower the mags in the cars
to make them faster...
Fun times..
