We run 1/24 FCR hardbody cars and Reality Modifieds on small (30-50 ft. lap length, relatively flat) ovals, using either Parma "Deathstar" 16D, Pro Slot balanced 16D, or Hawk 40K rpm motors @ 12v DC (auto/marine battery). Most all of the drivers use 2-4 ohm Parma "Econo" or "Turbo" controllers, and some use various brands of digital/electronic controllers.
I use 3 and 4 ohm "single barrel" Parma Turbo controllers myself, which allows for plenty of variation in throttle response. This is also the same controller I use on commercial tracks for road racing, with the same type FCR hardbody cars.
My favorite use for my 25 ohm controller (also a Parma single barrel Turbo) is for modern "magnet missile" (inline, hi-perf) HO racing.
I also use it for all of my HO drag racing cars, regardless of chassis type. I always bring a bag of different resistance controllers anyway, and just use what best matches the car and track conditions. Then again, I'm one of those guys that likes having a bunch of different Russkit/Parma controller handles to use, and personally not really a fan of digital controllers, regardless of their electronic superiority.
That's my take on the subject, at least. Enjoy the racing! -- Ernie :>)
