Changing the track up.

Postby MichiganCur » Sat Jan 16, 2016 10:33 pm

Decided to change up the track today. Still wanting to do a routed track, but till then occasionally hacking up a piece will have to suffice.

Any thoughts on design appreciated. Image

Looks like fun..The cool thing about plastic is what you are doing..One can change, adjust and just totally redo their layout is a short amount of time..

The nice thing about the table is its built for my kids to stand and look down into it. For me at 6 ft there's only a car length of blind spot before coming back under the bridge on the back left loop. Originally I wanted two bridges but I don't have enough of the plastic supports. So until I get around and cut some lumber for supports it works out. Putting the r2 at that corner also helps as its a little bit more forgiving than the r1 if the little ones come in to hot.

The straight I had a bad rail on, it would bounce the cars out and deslot them so it made for a good trial piece. If I mussed it up there was no real loss haha. But now I'm glad I did it, I want to get a few more corners and try making some odd angles to change up the corners even more. :-)

Well found a few more bits of track in a box in my workshop. And made a few trial wedges out of some scrap 1x4. I like the adjustment and it's kinda fun to see if I can jump from the drop and reslot before the corner hahaha Image

Well the 180 on the first loop was just too much, if you were on the inside Lane pretty much just gunned it coming out of turn 3 and hoped that you made it through the corner before the outside Lane made more than 3/4ths a lap. I tried power jumps adding in straights, nothing really seemed to equal the two lanes out so.. Changed it up again.
