When the 1968 rule changes occurred, the 330/P4 was suddenly rendered obsolete. After a year of protest, Ferrari tried the 312P in 1969, in both open and closed coupe forms. Only marginally successful, it left the racing scene in 1970, after Porsche introduced the 917 in 1969 and made it clear to everyone that in order to play in the new game you needed at least a 5.0 liter engine. Enter the 512, my third favorite Ferrari.
