My goto car is a yellow Shell Oil Porsche 917 NSR sidewinder. It is the fastest of any car I have owned since returning to slotting five + years ago. It is the car I run in Open class if I don't feel the need to run a scratch build. It is the fastest of the four NSRs I have owned, and I don't even try hard to get it to run good. I bought it second hand at a good price as it had the corner chipped off the rear spoiler, but for $45 it has served me well for four years and the only thing I've changed were the tires to Luf's urethanes.

It is also the car I volunteer to anyone new to the club who needs a car to try. I remember my first night on Luf's Targa and a club mate named Roger offered me a pale blue Gulf version of the same car. I had not race for 44 years, since the 60s, and I was immediately hooked. Even if I don't plan to run this car, I bring it to the track in case someone new needs a good car to try that is both fast and easy to drive.

I've gotta say it is my goto car.

My Go-To car and the one that sees the first/most track time is the trusty #8 from Slot.it



It's the car that I wanted most since I got back into slot cars, and during the entire tuning discovery process, it's been the most fun to drive and always a pleasure.

Here's mine:



It started life as an SCX Citroen, then got a brass frame for a series back in 2007. Since then it has been the car I use regularly to do the final cleaning of each lane when I open up my track, as the Super Tires do a better job of picking up the last bits of dust than anything else I have found.

The wheels are the only set of Kai wheels I ever had, they went out of production before I could get more. Motor is a Slot.it V12/2 29k, gears are Slot.it and the guide is a TSRF.

Just curious - what is the weight of the complete rolling chassis and what is the auw of the assembled car?

image.jpgYou Know I have a couple of sets of Kai wheels also. They are some really nice wheels very true wheels and I think they are the perfect weight for wheels not to light nor to heavy. Every car I have them on seems to hook up great. As for go to car my NSR club racer Porsche would be my entry.
