Thursday Night Racing

Postby gsmea » Sun May 22, 2016 5:44 am

We ha some great fun racing on Thursday night.
It was themed - American Classics on 1953

We started the evening with some 124 action:

Then it was time for serious racing.... 132 Ninco1 Vette's. This was close bumper to bumper and mirrors flying, serious racing.

Then we put up a 50 lapper Nascar race. It was so serious and competitive that I forgot to take pictures.. But I must say there were some tears.....

Richard (Slotting Since 1963) gave us a good beating, but he did not always have it his way, Jack and Cobus kept him in check with some serious good racing.

Nothing beats some good slot car racing, and I must say we havent even staryed up the big guns, Fly, Slot It, NSR and homebuilts.

Thank you for reading and please share with us your home racing events.

Jack, the race coordinator at 1953, decided that we would do a VW Beetle challenge on Thursday night.

This was met with mixed feelings..... Some of us were just to happy to race slot cars, while others wanted some better racing than beetles....
Hmmmm, first race up and Jack called a hult to proceedings..... He then replaced the beetles with three brand new Käfers....

Boy did we have fun racing these....

We had loads of fun, with some very close racing. We are planning to do a Käfer series.

Richard, Jack, Clive please add your comments, because Im still speechless

Yes !!!!!!! and did we have fun !!!!
We have been starved of Carrara cars for the past two and a half years when Toys r us stopped importing.
We could only look in envy at the new models being released. Luckily this has changed and a limited number of cars are starting to become available.
Out the box they ran well. With a tire sand and a bit of body float they were fast and handling was good.
Lap times on the 1953 @12.5 volts 6.45 sec. Slot-it 10 volts 6.0 sec.
We are going to run them standard to keep the FUN racing as close as possible . I'm sure we'll fit Paul Gauge tires very soon. Will be interesting to compare the lap times.
