Ford V Ferrari -Round #11 - Orakei Raceway NZ

Looks like the cars will be heading up to us next week from Munter's :banana-dance: . We will try and complete our Round as soon as we can, as we are running out of free weekends before Xmas and to get things back on schedule, as I believe Round 10 is suppose to be at Gascarnut's track in California in late Nov unless Audi1 found some tracks in Australia.

Little bit more info on Orakei Raceway.
Lanes: 4 (equal length)
Length: 50ft
Power: Regulated power supply up to 40 amps continuous output. We run at 12.0v
Surface: is straight gloss enamel paint over hardboard.
Contacts: Copper tape.
Usual Hand controllers: Slot.it, MB Slot, Defalco, Professor Motor
Main straight is approx 10.5 ft long
Running Direction: Clockwise
Track surface will be run clean which will give high levels of grip.
Any of the common tire makes will work, NSR Super or Ultra, Slotit N22, F22, MJKs, Ortmann, Paul Gage though NSR Super Grips seem to be best compromise.
Slot depth is 4.67mm ie; won't take Slot.it wood guides but slotit universal guides and Ninco Prorace guides are fine.
Timing: Lap timer software is Trakmate
Common lap times Slotit Grp C - 4.3 sec, Sideways Grp5 4.4, NSR classics 4.4. Lap record 3.9 - NSR Mosler

That is one "smooth" looking track. That Mosler must have been really haulin' to deliver a 3.9 second lap.............!

Been discussing with DRW21 which weekend we are both free to run this round - looks like it will be Sat the 26th Nov. However we will try and run a qualifying session early, maybe the weekend of the 19th - see how we go.

Picked up the cars from DRW21 last night. Have given all the cars a light oil and cleaned the braids, so they are all good to go. Interesting to note, most cars' tires and braids were still in good condition, as we move into the last quarter of the proxy.

We will run qualifying on Sunday morning and I will try and post results and comments Sunday evening.
Looking forward to running the cars on our track, will expect the GT40s and P68s will go well and perhaps the Ferrari 312s.

Qualifying is completed, thanks G for your assistance, results below.
As predicted the GT40s ran well but alot of cars were geared more for a bigger track, so were not getting out of 3rd gear down the short straights and suffered lack of brakes. Surprise result for the proxy points leader, his tires were balling up every 5 laps and loosing grip as a result.
However as we all know, things could be different on race day with different drivers.

Wow, those look terrible; not flat across the surface and tapered, and of course the marbles...

They are nsr handouts from a race years ago; not sure what compound ,but seemingly not supergrips... Do whatever you think is best that is allowable...
