Showdown Series 2017 - Retro Racer 44's entry

Postby VTECFOUR » Mon Jan 09, 2017 3:45 pm

Through a GVSCC group effort we've completed Retro Racer 44's entry and will be sending it off to the Showdown in memory of our friend and fellow club member.

His family are delighted the car will be in the fun run as Keith enjoyed this pastime so much.

Run it hard, guys!

It still hasn't sunk in yet that we lost Keith. I find I am finding excuses for not working on my ceramic plate he told us all about. Crazy. Look at how many folks are working in brass and steel these days and most of the growth in that area is Keith and Marty- both gone. I have a chassis to build that I really want to do, so I'm sure it will pass, but don't know what to do these days. Sorry, guys.

Best way to honor them is to build.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday while setting up a new chassis. But building a slot car is exactly what they enjoyed to do and what they liked to see others do.

It's why the scratch building side if this hobby is so important. The more we share our knowledge with others, the better chance we will see the art passed down.

That is a very nice tribute car to Keith.

I am new here compared to some of you other guys, and don't have the interaction with Keith that some of you have had. However in the short time I have been here Keith was one of the Guys that went that little bit extra with me. Letting me know that if I wanted I could have a car in the GVCC Targa event, and then pming back and forth about what might be done to get things running better.

We had discussed the upcoming open road Proxy over on SCI and I was looking forward to some friendly racing banter.

He was liked by all on this forum, and he was taken too soon and quick for any of us. We weren't done with him yet!!!! I can only imagine the loss his family must feel.

Hug a loved one, and live your life with vigor. Keith is a perfect example how none of us have any guarantee on tomorrow

I like spending time here with the characters I share this space with. We all share a passion for slot cars, and I am betting Keith would not want to get in the way of that, but we grieve in our own way. I built a car as a tribute to Keith, and It will help remind me of that fine person

I am happy to see number 44 on so many cars lately, and am especially happy to see that his dearest friends have entered this tribute car.

Well done guys
