We ran practice laps for the first hour and threw everything from Slot.it DTM to Thunderslot Lolas at the track. It ran smooth and quick.
We started off the real racing with some Trans-Am action and setup 5 minute heats with fuel stops. That was a hoot as Jim N. is such a fast driver he was burning gas at an alarming rate. We then ran the Thunderslots and Slot.it Gt-40's together and that really cranked up the times. The Carrera '57's were next and I should have moved up in power to 12v, but we managed. Out came the Ninco classics for some vintage sports car racing.
The most hilarious part of the day was watching Jim W. run with a fuel-saving strategy. He looked like he was Sunday driving his Javelin, but would burn gas at half the rate and ended up finishing 2 or 3rd in most heats.
We ran fuel stops the entire time as the racers really liked the strategy. They liked the track, the smoothness and traction. They were surprised I didn't put squeezes in and switched to DC with brakes, but all went well and we had a great time. So, the new track was a hit.
We did tip into the 5-second range with Jim N owning the fastest time of the day at 5.759!
More to come - these guys will be running the T/A proxy with me again when the cars come back.
