The last time that His Lordship was rostered on to fly fire spotting duty he and his pilot for the day, James were poking around a few of the hangars at the aerodrome while they were waiting for the Powers that Be to get their act together. Thought some of you might enjoy one of their discoveries.

The 3/4 scale P-51 was created by a pair of local farmers. One is a former aircraft mechanic, the other made his fortune inventing some special type of caterpillar track for tractors more than 20 years ago. So both officially come under the title of clever blighters.

Unfortunately there's not a lot I can tell you about this beauty other than that she is airworthy.

The P-51 has to be the most replicated warbird ever. Did you find out what powers it?

I'll find out what I can. His Lordship usually runs into the aircraft maintenance guy at the school bus stop some time during the week. His Lordship drives the bus for the local Lutheran Primary School.

It's powered by a small 4 cylinder, but I'm not sure exactly what.
