Three-time SCORE USAC dirt champ king Mike Lengel hadn't been much of a factor thus far in the Silver Crown campaign, entering the program 41 points out of first place. Lengel's effortless win in the 75 lapper changed that. Still in fifth place in the standings, Lengel now lies only 17 markers down. Homer Hiester rode into the runner-up spot six counters behind Lengel while Trevor Kobylarz took third using a brand new car. Despite eight miscues, Tim Musser managed to hang on for fourth as frequent flier at the Wernersville speedplant, Dave Balloch, edged Lee Greenawalt for fifth via tie-breaker in the field of ten drivers.
Early in the season, Greenawalt jumped to a large point lead in the USAC sprint division. Little by little, Carey Becker has been chipping away at the defending champion. Becker's narrow one-point victory over Greenawalt Wednesday set the stage for a tight battle for the title. Another seven points down, Musser nipped Lengel for third in the 50 lap event while Balloch, a notch behind, was fifth overall.
