New Policar Track

Seems Policar is coming out with their own track. Some are all ga ga over it, so here is a photo or two.



NOTE: This is WITHOUT any surface texture. Not sure on exactly how the surface will be. If it's 100 grit sandpaper like NINCO or SCX, you can count me out.








From Maurizio: On the sides of the connectors you can see four passage zones where you can pass an additional wire to bring additional current cables underneath the entire track. Naturally we have studied the contacts in order to have a good connection, but the current is never enough, especially with the digital system.

I have seen some dimensions posted, but nothing I will publish until I know it is accurate.

Nice, it looks like Scaley track with the sturdy rails of Carrera.

I can't see where this fits into the current market with Ninco, Scalex, any other 1/32 brands still out there. For sure it is not close to being as good an option as Carrera. Remember Carrera has the option of 6 lanes and flat or (useless) banked turns. Aprons to fit every piece they make. Plus the option to run a full size car.

From what I heard the Policar track will have Ninco lane spacing so may be a better option for those who find Scaley too tight and Carrera too wide. As long as the surface isn't too textured it could very good. I ran on Ninco for a long time and it offered excellent grip with rubber tires with some realistic tire wear. Great for no mag racing. I would think if the track surface was something between Scaley and Ninco that it would be ideal.

When you see a listing of available pieces of Policar track and there are as many options as Carrera, I will agree that it is as good an option as Carrera, if you don't run big cars. Personal preference aside, Carrera is pretty much the gold standard by which slot car tracks are judged. Maybe a person doesn't like Carrera being considered the best because it isn't their brand. If you ask home racers, I would guess that 70% or more would call Carrera the plastic track they would most like to have in their dreams.

How do you know?.... It's a fair question.

My Carrera track is 18yrs old, and soon to be replaced so here's to hoping for a new 'gold standard'
to choose from. I mean why is there such resistance to the possibility of a better track?

It depends on where you live as far as the gold standard. A lot of large club tracks in Europe are made with Ninco track which seems to perform really well for them. Carrera seems to be really popular in the US and Germany. Scalextric is really popular in the UK and here in the US.

As far as variety of the curves, I heard that Policar will expand the selection every year including digital lane change tracks.

Not that it matters but Carrera is actually 8 lanes wide. ;)

Not preaching to anybody, what resistance, I am just wondering what this new track will do better or different than other tracks currently available. Why does this offend you? Let's see a variety of 8-10 different curves and a few different lengths straits with borders to fit all pieces, then maybe it will be the go to track for 1/32 guys. Promises and plans do not equate to being available for slotters to buy.

Jesla if you have been running on Carrera for the last 18 years, you know exactly what I mean. You have been lucky enough to have access to all the different Carrera pieces to build whatever design you could dream up without being limited by a small variety of track pieces availble.
