Scaley Dodge Challenger and Mercury Cougar

I have limited experience with the Challenger, (I mean that.) but I think the answer is to find body float.
Loosen the screws a bit and fiddle with everything that interferes between the top and the bottom of the car.

While I'm not much of a tuner I am a big Mercury guy so I was disappointed when I did not find and 3d printed chassis for the Scalextric Cougar chassis on Shapeways. Would a 69/70 Camaro or Mustang 3D printed chassis easily adapt to the Cougar ?

My two cents worth..I entered a Cougar in the 2017 Trans Am series and finished in the middle of the pack. I added weight in front of the motor and along the side rails. PG tires and a light weight interior. Not much else but a bit of sanding to get some body float. In my opinion it ran well. I think the problem is the length of the wheel base. With a bit more work she could have have had a better finishing position. I was the only Cougar in the field. Just my thoughts on the subject.

Remember, my situation requires that the car remains stock with the exception of replacement tires and adding weight. I think I discovered a solution for the Challenger. It's big problem has been tipping in the corners, especially on an "S" curve. I finally noticed how narrow the track is of the front wheels. I found a longer axle and added some axle spacers and got the front wheels out to just inside the wheel wells. Assuming this will be a legal modification I think I have found a way to make my Challenger competitive with the Camaros and Mustangs.

I did the same as you Bob widened the track and added chassis weight, but i also loosened the body screws for a lot of float , it gave me just a bit more cornering ability as the body would rock a bit before pulling the cog in the chassis up.
They are great cars, but tuning in box stock is a tough one.

My Challenger has a wider front axle too but I also added a Camaro rear axle to it as it is about 2mm wider. My biggest problem with the Challenger was, it was a slug and my buddies Challenger had the same problem. I wonder if ours were in the same batch and they just had weak motors. A motor change later and it goes a lot better.

I'm not sure whether mine has the original motor or not. That may have been one of my earlier attempts at a fix. As it is now it has plenty of go fast down the straights but didn't corner well.
