Where's Waldo, er...Doc?

Postby dreinecke » Wed Jun 13, 2018 8:55 pm

I've gotten some emails and PM's checking in on my whereabouts. I good, but it has been busy as I'm about to illustrate.

First off, the TA Proxy really kicked me in the groin. I'm still grumpy about that. I'll get over it, eventually. For those wondering - I've got Don's (RollingThunder) Capri. His very lovely bride has approved it running in the 2019 series, so I am extremely happy about that.

Second, work has been extremely busy. Good stuff, but gotta pay the bills.

Third, and most importantly - the fetching Mrs. Reinecke and I are now empty nesters. Our daughter, Victoria, was married on May 24th.

I know I pop a few buttons off my shirt about my kids regularly, but we are simply so blessed by the adults these two have become.

Wedding prep, dealing with family travelling and all the stuff that surrounds such an event was pretty busy! To recap what a fabulous week it was: the Saturday before the wedding, I received a visit from my very good friend Dale (Aloha) all the way from Hawaii! I was so happy to simply race and talk little cars with Dale. It was a much needed break from all the estrogen in the house! Sadly, I didn't take a single picture as we just were having so much fun that I forgot!

The future Mr. and Mrs. had done a wonderful job planning their wedding so it was a very easy and smooth event (even with the pre-work). Victoria always wanted a barn wedding and that is what she got. We were very proud of how the kids stayed on budget, made so many of the decorations, and just generally made it easy on the parents.

The groom, Micah, had a busy week besides the wedding: he commissioned as a Second LT. in the USAF on Tuesday and graduated the Air Force Academy on Wednesday the 23rd. The graduation was really something else (been to several) and the Thunderbird show afterwards was super cool too. He graduated 81st in the class with distinction and honors - pretty smart cookie!

We had the rehearsal dinner that evening and the kids got married the next day.

By Sunday, when all the family and out of townees left, I spent a fabulously quiet day cleaning the house all by myself (the fetching Mrs. Reinecke traveled to Florida with her mother for a week).

Anyway, here's a few pics of the events!

Saber Arch (our son, Chris on the far right - laughing cuz they'd just smacked his sister with a saber on the rear end as she was going by and announced: "Welcome to the Air Force, Ma'am!":

The happy couple are heading to WPAFB while Micah completes his MS degree and then goes to flight training. He was thrilled he got to do the Master's first so he does not have to leave the cockpit to do it.

Now to finish the Cyclone, building my Malibus, getting the Charger going, and playing with my new Scalextric Roy Woods Javelin and the Scalextric Jaguar historic twin-pack!

Dave, keep on bragging on those kids. Nothing wrong with being proud of them and their accomplishments. This group is all friends and we are happy to hear about how good other families are doing. I think it makes everybody feel good to see the positive side of the younger generation.

Hey Doc....
Good on you, and good on them! Congrats are certainly due and warranted.

Don't plan on being empty forever....boomerangs happen all too frequently as I know too well.
But it looks like it was a wonderful wedding which is great!
Hope to see you back up here soon. ;)

Thanks guys. The happy couple got home yesterday and we got to hear all their stories from their honeymoon. They had a great time and got some awesome pictures in Alaska and at Disney. They now get to do all the appropriate paperwork stuff and getting IDs for Victoria, moving banks, insurance, phones, etc. to their own stuff. Have fun with that lol!

The fetching Mrs. Reinecke had one last present for them last night: a recipe box with all of her recipes in it. Micah's eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store as they were going through them all. Having eaten here for the past two years every weekend, she'd included all his favorites.

I did get to play a bit last night. I'm testing RedLiner's 3D chassis with a CG pod for my stockers. The 18k Gator motor in this thing makes it haul the mail and the much lower center of gravity means the car is much more fun to drive than the donor Carrera chassis. Nothing wrong with those, but I'm up for something different. More to come on that!
