I see a flock of MGA's showed up. I still remember fondly every detail of that old clunker MGA I had, how many times I pushed it, how many times I burned my leg on the heater, cursed Lucas electrics, etc. (the line forms to the left for MGA survivors to tell their stories- we are legion)

My 51 TD had the same crappy Lucas electrical system. The rest of the car was OK and I always compared to the drivability and performance of a VW bug. Great pix.

Yeah, great to see the MGA contingent. Lots of beautiful Lotus machines too. Nice photos. My Mom loved it when I got my first car, an MGA, in 1966. She was happy because it meant, with Lucas electrics, I would always have to be home before dark! I really liked that little car - but after a few months I wondered how the Brits could never have heard about roll-up windows instead of the useless side curtains. Before I bought the MG, I had no idea that anyone even made a car without real windows.

Another “first car was an MGA” guy here. And you forgot to mention the SU carbs and the ring gear, which was prone to throw a tooth every now and then...... Actually, never had a problem with the Lucas electrical system. Nearly lost a front wheel doing 95 mph - chasing a car load of girls in a convertible Mustang. Does that sound familiar to anyone......?
