About those paint stands... I have been using them for many years now, and I tell you, I can't believe I did decent work with a bent coat hanger before I got them. I have three, and I need all of them. My oldest one has had the buildup of sprayed paint cleaned off of it twice. Must have done a hundred cars on each of them, but that one is a veteran. For my money, there is nothing better, and frankly, I don't think I could do without them anymore. Its the best bargain in slot cars.

Hi Audi1 and all.

Great to see the good progress everybody is making. Also the different cars and construction techniques.

My Lotus 30 is finally taking shape and close to rolling stage subject to gluing and truing the tyres.

To keep to cars 13" wheels as per the prototype I have elected to use Dart Hobbies tyres on 13" BWA wheels so hope tyres have not gone off. I have had them for a while.

Car will be powered by Policar Slimline FF050 motor.

DRW21 - interesting tip on making headlight covers. Any idea what the American parlance/transation for crystal clear araldite would be? Is that a product name?

I use a piece of scrap chrome then carefully make a droplet of crystal clear window glue. Let it sit for a long time, it will make a crystal headlight. I just did it in a TransAm Mustang I'm doing.

I do not have a wood track near me. Would it be out of line to ask what the preferred tire might be for the host tracks? Thanks in advance.

Hi Czar. The problem is even though the tracks are wood they each may respond differently to any one brand of tire.
Some guys like Paul Gage Standards, others hos XPG, then there are yellow dog urethanes, NSR rubber, Slot it rubber , it really is a crap shoot.
My only suggestion would be to try one this time out and another next proxy. I will be using Paul Gage as they seem to work reasonably well. Too much grip can be a bad thing too.
