Quick question, if I ream out the chassis guide hole to accept a modern Slotting Plus guide, will it hurt the value of the chassis? Never mind. I am just going to do it so they run.

Don't worry a bit about the chassis, those are not collector pieces or hard to find. You can do whatever you want to make them run better. I also think the screws were added to the hold the chassis to the body. I think that style car used those push in blue body pins and not screws.
I bet I got a couple of those guides here. I think they are the blue ones and I have a few of them in some EJ kits that I will give you.

The Chaparral is nothing special, but the Porsche is a nicer car and harder to find and yours looks pretty nice. I'll check for the guide flags and get back to you, but I'm pretty sure I have a couple.

Lovely Strombecker finds!
Those metal chassis benefit immensely from a brass tube bushing in the rear. Quite a bit faster and smoother. The Porsche in grey is more common, but like most Strombecker cars they are actually decent bodies and look good when detailed.

The open frame motors will run well if you keep them lubed. Enjoy them!

I think you have all the advice you can use, but just for your own curiosity's sake, I can tell you that those foreign screws look like MacFeely's dual head machine screws. I mention it because that outfit hasn't combined Phillips/slot for many years. They went to square drive/slot at least 15 years ago. Maybe the previous owner was racing the car quite a while ago? Or maybe just has a lot of screws laying around his shop...
