Nash Metropolitan Mod

Kind of pressed for time around here, when I found some slot car time , decided to rebuild another slug I had on the shelf.
Picked a Nash Metropolitan modified.



Took the body off a Javelin TA car with a Hawk motor.
Replaced the Hawk with a Piranha & added some bars & bumpers from 3/64 brass.
Re-used the same body mounts, added Pro-Track Wheels with PG rears & home-cast fronts.
Slapped a home-cast Metro body on it with a big-block Chevy.
headers are 1/16 styrene rod, paint is blue & silver Dupli-Color with Dupli-Color "Clear Effects".
Home-printed decals I had in the drawer, Parma gears & guide.

Yes, that car is a beauty! This car is very realistic looking. Racing a track-full of similar looking cars must be a great deal of fun. I still recall the turquoise & white Metropolitan my mother's friend used to drive.:)

I clicked on this yesterday and started checking it out, then had to ask myself "Who in the world would think of making a racing slot car based on a Nash Metropolitan?" At best, these should be the sorts of things King Kong or Godzilla steps on in a movie. I had to scroll back up to the top of the post to see who did this. When I saw it was strangebrew, then I thought, "Of course".

Excellent craftsmanship strange. Love the chassis and somehow it does actually look like a race car, even better than the photo that inspired you. I'm really looking forward to your next build which I presume could be using a SmartCar to create an amazing short track racer.

Admittedly, no one can match btaylor's jalopy productivity, but you manage to score a lot of points for creativity.
