I get what you're saying, and I agree with your points. My point in posting and replying so strongly is that I've seen too many times something accepted as fact on message boards that simply is an overstatement that becomes the story of a slot car or a narrative that's all too easily accepted. I'm NOT saying that Scalextric cars are perfect but I don't like the idea of it being accepted there's in issue when it's more likely a one-off made worse by something inside the car that might not have been fully seated in assembly.

Maybe the wheels not sitting flat is not something a photographer would pay a lot of attention to, considering he/she is probably more concerned with getting the focus, lighting end exposure settings etc spot on, but I guess one bad photo has the potential to 'kill' a sale if someone picks up on it. Good on you Dave for mentioning it.

I see this a lot on RTR cars and do what's needed to address it. First, take the body off and see if the chassis is flat (all tires on the track) or not. If not fix that with some flexing or affix it to a flat surface and heat it up a little to let the plastic 'relax'. Then, if it warps again with the body back on that is the culprit and some of the body mount screws may need to be left loose or not even used.

If the guide is holding the front end up it's a more complicated fix but can still be done.
