I really miss the 60's and hot rods and street racing. And the fact that most police took a more tongue=in-cheek
view of street racing. There was a seldom used road near my house where the police would allow, and even
chaparone, grudge racing on Wednesday nites. The road was basically only used by trucks during the day, so
there was no traffic at nite. Plus drive-in hamburger places were really coming into vogue, and were the hot
places to hang out for gearheads.

That's the way of it. Replacement rear hubs are hard to find. And the used hubs you come across
are probably just as worn. A parts supplier in England called Southern Carburators, run by John
Chatam, had some new old stock hubs when I needed them, so I lucked out. Plus I replaced the
old 48 spoke wheels with 72 spokers, which fit without hitting the brake drum like 60 spoke
wheels do. So the internal splines of the wheels were new also.

These aren't exactly "old" photos (though the cars are). What is unique, the dragstrip is located in Iceland, between Reykjavik and Keflavik. When I was stationed there (77-78) it was a volcanic cinder track and they used paddle tires.
