AFX should do some drag cars. Thoughts?

I'd rather see AFX expand the lines they already do.

It looks as if AW and the scratch guys have the drag stuff covered.

I'd say you're right about AW having drag racing covered except their cars all look like dune buggies because of the way the bodies sit on the chassis. If someone comes along and offers cars that look low & sleek right out of the package then they'd have a sure winner IMO.

It's funny to watch this thread. The original post was wouldn't it be cool if AFX made some Drag cars. From there people just can't help themselves in over engineering just a simple idea. :lol:

People like to share what they have done, which I think is a good thing.

I don't see anything that is 'over-engineered'. But I don't see the AW's being 'Dune Buggies' either.

Dune buggy may have been too harsh but compare a stock AW release to one that has been lowered;





No biggie, it's just that the low, sleek look is a huge part of drag cars.

I don't own a slot car company that has a chassis that is already designed and in production. :)

I think the stock AW Patron car looks aces. The lowered one too. No need for AFX to go there....

It's a sure winner if you have a company that already has a new state of the art chassis in production and factories already lined up overseas that can pop new bodies to fit it. Not so much for someone starting from scratch. All I'm saying is they've got this great chassis already & the market is out there, why not dip your toe in & see if takes off? That's what Bachmann did with their On30 trains & they created an entire new market & line of revenue.

Not really understanding why you're fighting this. How in the world is introducing a new, better product a problem? Sheesh.

I see your point on the Mega G Chassis. The funny car I did used one and I had to narrow the wheels, adjust the wheelbase & shortened the front axle a bit. But yes, I see your point. Cheers!
