Scaley push in guide + Caterham 7

I have a Scaley Caterham Super 7 and I would like to upgrade the guide. Any thoughts or ideas?

I went to a directly wired in guide, not sure what make it was, but had trouble with the wires occasionally I think because of the very limited space. I've now gone back to the original guide because I wanted to 'tube' the axle and couldn't see a way of having both. Like you, I think I need to look at this again.

I have had a thought and need to write it down. Guide wires that attach to the side of the guide instead of going into the top of the guide. I don't know if this will work. But I needed to write it down before I forgot about it.

More stray thoughts. Maybe cut slots in a performance guide and run the braid around the guide like Scalextric does. Then no need for guide wires. After all, the main purpose is to get a longer/deeper guide. (Am I thinking out loud again?)

Slot.It do a low LMP guide where the wires come out the front I think but I'm not sure if the stem would be long enough. I have seen a regular 'push in' guide like those on the Lotus modified with packaging plastic glued on both sides so the guide is both longer and deeper. 1st off the blade was thinned slightly and tapered a bit front and rear before gluing the packaging on with epoxy and when set trimmed to size.

The slot.is LMP guides I have seen so far have the wires coming out from the back.
This is the main point of these guides: because LMP cars are very low on the front there would no room for the wires with a standard guide setup.
