Formula 1 Proxy - Rd 3 at Old Fart International Raceway

Your cars arrived yesterday and I got them unpacked late last night. All appear to be in great shape! I'll have some photos of OFIR and more track details for you tonight. My club, Slot Car Addicts of North Carolina (SCANC), will be racing at OFIR tonight and I hope we can get our schedule for qualifying and the race set then. More to follow!

Gentlemen,
Qualifying will be this Sunday with Monday evening as a back-up if family stuff gets in the way. I think we will be able to hold the race either Tuesday or Wednesday evening with 4 experienced drivers and marshals. OFIR is CNC routed, 93 ' in length with the main straight at 16.5'. We only race rubber tires and run at 10 volts. The cars look great and I'm looking forward to qualifying them!

I used to run on that track when it was Georgetown Raceway. Looks like you remodeled the "S" section coming out of the righthand sweeper on the backside of the track. Good move, I could never get through that squiggle section!

I had to shorten the track a bit to make it fit in the bonus room upstairs. Removed 5' of straight a couple of places and reroute the esses. It was a bugger to move and put back together but it was worth it. I couldn't drive the original esses either lol!

The race went well tonight and there was more movement than I expected, mostly at the front of the grid. There were some offs of course but no damage! Here are your results:

I'll answer the question before its asked- the top 2 qualifiers, #19-Audi1 and #17-Chrisguyw, had lots of speed and the most grip of any of the cars on my track. The result was taking a tighter radius turn 19 times and then the 20th time taking it what felt like exactly the same way, and the front would pop out with no warning. The other cars with similar speed had just enough drift to prevent that kind of deslot.
Steeveew's car was awesome during the race as evidenced by the winning margin. Chmanvegasracer's raced really well also, jumping from 5th in qualifying to 2nd, and both raced with no offs. Aloha's car finished out a nice podium.
All the cars were fun to drive and congratulations to the top 3! More photos tomorrow.
