What about windshields?

For bodies with “simple” glass, like open cockpit racers and some stock cars, clear soda bottles could be used, but what about more complex cars?

I remember the old Vacuum Form toy (too dangerous for today’s kids :o ), and I saw a few dental vacuum formers on Amazon with a 4”x4” bed.

What are you guys/gals using?

That’s looks like the one I was reading Amazon reviews about. Could be large enough for 1/32 and smaller 1/24, and not too expensive either. Use your 3D printer to make the “buck” the glass would be molded over it, trim and fit.

Oh and I didn’t know clear PLA was a thing, but you say it’s not ready for prime time yet. Wow if it was you could run multiple spools and just print the windows - wouldn’t that be cool.

Getting ahead of myself. Excited that my Ender 3 is on track for delivery tomorrow, just in time for the weekend!

I have some clear PLA but have not yet printed anything with it because I am sure that most windshields would end up looking like bathroom privacy glass - not so good for motor car racing windshields. I know a guy who pours clear resin windscreens. The clear PLA might work well enough for headlight/taillight lenses though. I will have to design and print a couple to see - weekend project!!
