2019 CanAm - Round #1 - The River Run

Thanks for getting round one run today. Congratulations to our podium finishers. Dale congratulations on the concourse podium. Great looking car. To the drivers, thanks for bringing my #21 home in 11th place. I didn't know how this car was going to respond with only 1 day to set it up. Ahead of F1Fan and just behind Gascarnut and Cgyracer! I would say that is good company. Maybe in the next round it will crack the top 10. Brumos you got me man. Dwr21 and Smokieo just out for a Sunday drive. Man you guys are bad-fast. Smokieo fast lap in all three lanes, ouch!!

Until round two, keep your wheels turning and the shiny side up. 8-)

Congrats to those running at the front. I see I am am no where near the pace required to run with the big dogs. Back to the drawing board. Wider, lower, smoother will be goals made for the next entry.

Thanks Allan and team for bringing us round 1, congratulations to everyone that’s pleased with their result, better luck to the rest of us next time!

This Plafit chassis was unknown territory for me, but to be honest I had higher expectations than 12th for car #7. This track has always been a challenge for my cars, maybe slighter better results are in it’s future, but moving onto to the podium looks like a “bridge too far”!

Thank you for your efforts in pulling this altogether. Sounds like you guys had a great time with these cars. Looks like I spent too much time trying to make #3 look fast and pretty and not making it pretty fast. Oh well it is fun to be involved. Congratulations to the entire field and especially those at the top.

Congrats to DRW21 for the win ! Same goes for Smokeio's second and Audi1's third. Great cars you guys built. Huge gap between 1st and 3rd place I notice, a strong car DRW21 has!

Thank You Allan and team, this has to be a very exciting proxy for all competitors, such cool cars on cool tracks.
Thanks to the drivers, I'm sure they had a great time, I know I would if I was driving this bunch of CanAm racers.
Thanks to Smokeio for letting me pass, great to compete along side you again.
I do expect your #70 car will out run me on the longer straights.
So sad about the Ti22 incident, hope it still runs for the rest of the proxy.
Really good to be in a proxy where all the cars are running rubber and not a mix of different types of tyre.

I am clearly disappointed with my, evidently, half hearted effort in building my #9 Can-Am entry. Seems that it has a severe traction problem in negotiating the corners. Maybe the fact that I have a plastic track to test on has a large effect but truth be told .. I just didn't put in proper study/test time in. Hopefully as racing continues my McLaren will settle in and turn some respectable lap totals.
Thanks for every ones efforts in running this series and especially this particular course at The River Run. Excellent job, all. :clap:

Not sure how many proxies you have run in. I enter as many as I can and I'm still learning. I also test on Scaley plastic track. I've been told that the difference between plastic and wood is night and day. I just try to set my car up for the fastest laps I can get and hope for the best. Tire chatter and hop speak to tire prep. Now I'm no master at this. It has been stated that some of the top dogs spend up to 2 hours per tire. Not sure if that is fact or myth. Get you a good tire truer. Also weight placement is critical. Balance is what I'm hearing. Now who determines balance? 40/60 hasn't always equated to fast cars for me. So you will have to test, test, test. Comments for my cars said tail out, good brakes, . Shoot for Predictable. Fast and smooth wouldn't hurt either. :P 2 / 70 / 5.434 / 5.48 / Smooth, fast, predictable handling


So take it from a midpack runner. You can only go up.

Thanks arroldn, time is the best investment in race prep and I just didn't do my due diligence. All the bells and whistles in my "War Room" won't get the job done if I don't use them. Actually I started preparing three cars for this proxy months ago but life got in the way and I lost my focus until I had cut my time to test to a frantic fray. My car arrived at the proxy on the last day. It is still a fast car although not as refined as I would hope for. I expect mid pack will be the best I'll get .. this year. :angry-banghead:

The cars have arrived at Rockledge Raceway in CT for Round #2, so be looking for a post on the next race from Doubl-B in the next few days.
